Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on March 10, 2020 Admissions standards for Louisiana colleges vary greatly. To get a partial sense of what it takes to get in, the side-by-side comparison table below shows ACT scores for the middle 50% of enrolled students for a range of four-year colleges in Louisiana. Keep in mind that 25% of enrolled students have scores below those listed. Also, remember that ACT scores are just one part of the application. The admissions officers in Louisiana, especially at the top Louisiana colleges will also want to see a strong academic record, a winning essay, meaningful extracurricular activities and good letters of recommendation. Some applicants with lower scores (but an otherwise strong application) may be admitted to these schools, while applicants with higher scores (but an otherwise weak application) may be turned away. If your scores are below the ranges listed here, don't give up. Make sure the rest of your application, and any supporting materials/documents, are strong--it's possible to be admitted even with lower scores. If your scores are not as strong as you'd like, and, if there's enough time, you can always retake the exam. Some schools will allow you to submit an application with your original scores, and then will accept your new (hopefully higher) scores as a replacement when they come in. Check with your schools to see if this could be an option for you. Don't forget to click on the schools' names in the chart above--there you'll find helpful information about admissions, enrollment, graduation rates, financial aid, athletics, academics, and more!
