On the Tree of Life in the Jewish mystical faith of Kabbalah (also called "Qabala"), the archangels Raphael and Michael work together to oversee the sephirot called "Hod" which means glory and splendor. Here's how Raphael represents the quality of Hod in the universe:

Helping People Think Thoughts That Reflect God's Glory

Raphael inspires people to think thoughts that reflect the glory of God, who has made them in his image, believers say.

By helping people focus their minds on all that's true and good, Raphael draws them closer to the source of what's true and good: God, the Creator.

"As Raphael ignites this Sephiroth [Hod], we fully receive the experience of the 'Splendor of the Divine Mind of God,'" write Dr. Joshua David Stone and Rev. Janna Shelley Parker in their book Ascension Activation Meditations of the Spiritual Hierarchy: A Compilation.

"Hod is the sphere wherein you make yourself into a channel that can fine-tune into the frequencies of divinity," write Ina Cüsters-van Bergen and Gareth Knight in their book The Temple of High Magic: Hermetic Initiations in the Western Mystery Tradition. "Compare Hod with a radio that is tuned to a certain broadcasting station. In Hod, all the keys to the different frequencies are systematically stored. These keys are the instruments that you use to search for the right wavelength.

You use your mind as an instrument to broadcast a certain frequency, and to receive the message of this wavelength. ... you can tune into the divine frequency, the broadcasting company of archangel Raphael. You will generate many experiences that are connected with healing."

Bringing Healing, Protective Energy Into People's Lives

As Raphael expresses the creative force of God's glory in the universe, he also brings divine energy into people's lives that can heal them from wounds of all kinds (spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical) and protect them from anything that doesn't reflect God's good plans for their lives, say believers.

In The Temple of High Magic, Cüsters-van Bergen and Knight write: "You can communicate with Raphael, and this means that you will be informed when new healing techniques are released from the Inner Planes. You will receive healing energy. You will slowly get inspiration from unknown sources and, by coincidence, meet the right people who will teach you more about healing."

Raphael and Michael work together to bring healing to people that reflects the glory of how God intends the world to be. In his book Qabalah: A Magical Primer, Professor John Bonner writes: "Michael is a healer, but one who heals deep-seated disease and not surface wounds, which are the province of Raphael. Michael heals in the only true and lasting manner, holistically from within, by restoring balance and harmony to the diseased system, whereas Raphael concentrates his energies on binding together ruined flesh and protecting it from infection by outside agencies, a mode that is more appropriate to the sphere of Hod."
