The French verb arriver means "to arrive" and is a regular -er verb. The conjugation pattern is easy to follow.

How to Conjugate the French Verb Arriver

To conjugate a regular -er verb, you remove the -er from the infinitive to get the stem (arriv-) and add the ending that matches the subject pronoun and the tense you want to use.

How to Use Arriver in the Past Tense

While the passé composé is a compound tense, it's important to go over, as it's the typical way to use the past tense. To form it, you have to know which auxiliary verb to use and a verb's past participle. For arriver, the auxiliary verb is être and the past participle is arrivé

Vous êtes arrivé trop tard.
You arrived too late.

Il est arrivé avec sa soeur.
He arrived with his sister.
