Established in 1927, Austin Peay State University is a public university whose 169-acre main campus is located in Clarksville, Tennessee. The school is named after a former Tennessee governor, many buildings are named after governors, and the university's mascot is the governor. Austin Peay students can choose from 56 Bachelor's degree programs; business is the most popular with undergraduates. The university has been growing rapidly in recent years, and the school wins high marks for its campus safety, ROTC program, and sports programs. On the athletic front, the Austin Peay Governors compete in the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Popular sports include basketball, softball, soccer, football, and track and field.
