Discussion of Benedictine College's Admissions Standards: Benedictine College in Kansas has moderately selective admissions, and applicants shouldn't be fooled by the high acceptance rate (in 2015, the college had a 99% acceptance rate). Applicants tend to be self-selecting, and most have grades and test scores that are average or better. In the scattergram above, the green and blue dots represent admitted students. Most had SAT scores of 1000 or higher, an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. Many applicants had grades up in the "A" range. Note that some students got in with grades and standardized test scores below the norm. This is because Benedictine College has holistic admissions and makes decisions based on more than numbers. The college wants to get to know applicants as unique individuals. Factors such as participation in extracurricular activities like athletics and positive letters of recommendation can strengthen an application. And as with all selective colleges, Benedictine considers the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Advanced Placement, Honors, IB, and dual enrollment classes can all play an important role in the admissions process by demonstrating your college readiness, and success in some of these courses can also earn you college credit.
