Bible Verses on Courage

What does it mean to be courageous?  There are many bible stories about courage, so there are plenty of bible verses on courage from how to live beyond fear and how God provides us with all the courage we need.

Living Beyond Fear
Fear has a way of taking control of us.  Yet the Bible reminds us that, as Christians, we can live beyond fear and walk in courage.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you.

He will not fail you or forsake you.  (NASB)

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.  (NASB)

Proverbs 24:10
If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength! (NIV)

Proverbs 28:1

God Gives Us Strength
We may be strong, but we are not as strong as we can be with God giving us strength.  When it comes to courage, the Bible has a lot of insight into how God provides just what we need.

Joshua 1:9
I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.  (CEV)

1 Corinthians 16:13
Keep alert. Be firm in your faith. Stay brave and strong. (CEV)

Psalm 16:8
