When Blair O'Neal was announced as a contestant on her first Big Break series, Big Break Prince Edward Island, she was not well-known as a golfer. She had played collegiately and competed in some long-drive competitions, but O'Neal was better known at that point for her burgeoning career as a model than for her golf.

But if anyone had a life-changing experience after their first Big Break appearance, it was Blair O’Neal.

During her appearance on Big Break PEI, O’Neal was in the middle of an extended leave from golf and focused on modeling and acting. But taking part in BBPEI gave her the chance to find out if she has what it takes for a golf career.

Back to Golf

After finishing as runner-up, the answer, O'Neal determined, was yes.

"That show helped me get back into golf in a big way," said O’Neal. "I just realized how much I love playing golf and playing tournaments. It was such a boost for my golf career."

Following BBPEI, O'Neal returned to serious practicing at golf, and began playing tournaments on the Cactus Tour. She has since won on the Cactus Tour, played on the Symetra Futures Tour and taken part in LPGA qualifying tournaments.

O'Neal hasn't given up on her other career, but has found ways to combine them. Since BBPEI, O'Neal has hosted a series on and had some hosting duties on the Golf Channel, too.

But O'Neal remains focused on pursuing a competitive golf career, with her eye on the LPGA Tour.

"Now I feel like it's time to make it happen," she said. "It is going to happen.

"My goal (on Big Break Dominican Republic) is to do something that I didn’t do back at PEI. That is to win."

And guess what? O'Neal did win Big Break Dominican Republic. There both men's and women's "MVPs," and O'Neal was the MVP among the female contestants on that series.

As such, she gained an exemption into 2011 LPGA Kia Classic, where she missed the cut.

But her career as a golfer, model, spokesperson and TV personality has taken off in the years since. O'Neal has been seen in bikini pin-ups for Cobra Golf and as a golf instructor on Golf Channel, among other things.
