Established in 1930 as a small two-year college for women, the university is now a coeducational baccalaureate institution with over 1,100 students. Students can choose from 40 academic programs; business, health, and education fields are among the most popular. The curriculum has a liberal arts core and also emphasizes hands-on learning and career preparation. Students have many internship, fieldwork and research opportunities.
