Colleges Capitol Technology University Description: Capitol Technology University, formerly Capitol College, occupies a 52-acre campus in Laurel, Maryland. Washington, D.C. is less than 20 miles to the southwest, and Baltimore is 25 miles to the northeast (see more colleges in the District of Columbia region). The diverse student body comes from 19 states and several countries. Capitol students can choose from 13 bachelor's degree programs, 3 associate degree programs, seven master's degree programs, and a doctoral program in information assurance. Academics are supported by a 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio and small classes; the university takes pride in the individual attention students receive, as well as the hands-on practical experiences students gain. For undergraduates, Capitol is a residential campus with apartment style student living. All graduate programs are available online. Capitol's academic facilities include the Space Operations Institute which partners with NASA, the Cyber Battle Lab for running simulated cyber attacks, and the large Electronics and Engineering Labs which home a wide array of equipment. On the student life front, Capitol's Campus Center is home to a fitness center, cafe, ping pong and pool tables, and a projection TV. The university does not host any intercollegiate sports, but students participate in a range of clubs, organizations and activities.
