Discussion of Central Michigan's Admissions Standards:

Roughly a third of students who apply to Central Michigan University will not be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of successful applicants had "B-" or higher averages, SAT scores of about 900 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 17 or above. If you're a strong student, you'll have plenty of company: many admitted students have grades up in the "A" range.

Note that there are some red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) hidden behind the green and blue in the middle of the graph. A few students with grades and test scores that were on target for Central Michigan did not get in. Note also that some students were accepted with test scores and grades a bit below the norm. This is because the admissions process is based on more than numerical data. The admissions folks take into consideration the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Central Michigan will also be evaluating your grade trend (are grades improving over time?), and the university encourages applicants to send  an essay, resume, or activities sheet that focuses on extracurricular involvement.
