Discussion of Chapman's Admissions Standards:

Chapman University has selective admissions -- less than one half of all applicants will be admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of successful applicants had high school averages of "B+" or better, combined SAT scores of 1100 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 23 or better. Your chances of receiving an acceptance letter are best if your grades are up in the "A" range.

You'll notice that there are quite a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) mixed in with the green and blue throughout the graph. Many students with grades and test scores that were on target for Chapman University did not get in. On the flip side, note that some students were accepted with test scores and grades a little bit below the norm. This is because Chapman's admissions process is grounded in much more than numerical data. The university uses The Common Application and has holistic admissions. The admissions folks take into consideration the rigor of your high school courses, your application essay, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. Art dance, film & media arts, and music majors have additional application requirements.
