That said, the admissions bar isn't overly high, and most hard working high school students will have a good chance of being admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who won admission. Most had SAT scores (RW+M) of 800 or higher, an ACT composite of 15 or higher, and a high school average of a "B-" or higher. The Clark Atlanta University admissions website states that applicants should have an SAT score (RW+M) of 900 or better and an ACT composite score of 19 or better, but the graph clearly shows that many students get in with scores below these desired ranges. Admission to Clark Atlanta University is not a simple mathematical equation, so grades and test scores are just one piece of the admissions equation. To quote the admissions website, "We consider the applicant's secondary school academic record, standardized college entrance exams (SAT or ACT), leadership in school and community activities, unique talents and skills, and educational objectives." The application requires letters of recommendation from both your school counselor and a teacher. You'll also need to write an admission essay on one of two topics. Finally, the Clark Atlanta application asks about extracurricular activities, honors, and athletic and academic distinctions.
