Data courtesy of Cappex. Discussion of Coe College's Admissions Standards: About a third of applicants to Coe College will not get in, and successful applicants tend to have grades and standardized test scores that are average or better. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who won admission. Most had SAT scores of 1000 or higher (RW+M), an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. The great majority of admitted Coe students were above this bottom range, and a significant percentage had grades in the "A" range. You can see that a couple red dots (rejected students) overlap with the green and blue in the graph, and that a few admitted students had grades and test scores below the norm. This is because Coe College makes decisions based on more than numbers. Whether you use the Coe College application or the Common Application, the admissions folks will be looking for a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and a positive admission recommendation. As a small liberal arts college, Coe is looking for contributing community members, not just students who are academically strong. And like all selective colleges, Coe College takes into consideration the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Success in challenging Advanced Placement, Honors, IB, and dual enrollment classes will impress the admissions folks and help demonstrate your college readiness.
