Definition of Enediol in Chemistry

This is the chemical structure of catechol.

An enediol is an alkene enol with a hydroxyl group attached to both carbon atoms of the carbon double bond

An example: Catechol is an enediol. Two of the hydroxyl groups are attached to one of the carbon double bonds in the benzene ring.
