Thermometer Definition

A thermometer is a device designed to measure temperature. Thermometers typically record temperature in either Fahrenheit (in the United States) or Celsius (most of the world). Measurements from these scales may then be converted to Kelvin, if needed.

Thermometers in Science

While medical thermometers cover a narrow temperature range, around body temperature, scientific instruments may cover a wider range or a narrow band of temperatures outside the medical range.
