Learn how to draw an elephant cartoon character. In this step by step tutorial, you'll learn how to draw this cute elephant cartoon. Draw a Cartoon Elephant - Begin Drawing a Cartoon Elephant

We'll begin drawing our elephant with the three main circles that will make her head and body. The middle circle is more of an oval. Try your best to match the sizes of the circles and where they are placed next to each other. Draw very lightly, to begin with, so that it's easy to erase any 'working lines' that aren't needed.

Three of the elephant's feet will be on the ground. Draw her knees and feet with the ovals seen here. The dotted lines show what we will need to erase.

Now we are going to draw her legs by connecting the ovals we just drew to the body. These lines are all curved lines. We'll also add an oval for the foot she is "waving" at us.

Pay close attention to the lines that make her "waving" leg. The red lines show where you can draw some very simple lines that will show where her skin folds. Giving her these wrinkles and folds will help show that she is a big and heavy elephant.

Now it is time to draw features of the head. You can see where her cheeks fold out from her basic oval shaped head. We will also add the eyes and shapes of her ears.

Next, comes the elephant's trunk and her smile. Notice how the "smile line" follows the flow of her trunk.
