Eckerd College is a private liberal arts college that sits on a 188-acre waterfront campus in St. Petersburg, Florida. The college takes full advantage of its location -- both marine science and environmental studies are popular among students. Eckerd students come from 45 states and 35 countries, and a majority of them participate in study abroad.

For its strengths in the liberal arts and sciences, Eckerd was awarded a chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Eckerd is also one of the 40 schools to appear in Loren Pope's well regarded book, Colleges That Change Lives. In athletics, the Eckerd College Tritons compete within the NCAA Division II, in the Sunshine State Conference.
