Discussion of Eckerd's Admissions Standards:

Nearly a third of all applicants to Eckerd College get rejected. Successful applicants will need solid standardized test scores and grades. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that most students who got in had high school averages of "B" or higher, combined SAT scores of about 1000 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 20 or higher. The higher those numbers, the better your chances of being admitted

Note that some students were accepted with test scores and grades a little bit below the norm. This is because Eckerd College is interested in more than a student's numerical data. The admissions folks want to see that you have taken sufficient college-preparatory classes. The rigor of your high school courses matters, not just your grades, so those AP and IB classes can help if your grades are borderline. Eckerd uses the Common Application and has holistic admissions, so the college will also want to see an engaging personal essay, interesting extracurricular activities, and strong letters of recommendation. Eckerd is sincere about getting to know their applicants, and they welcome you to send along supplemental materials such as extra letters of support, samples of your poetry, videos of your talent, an additional essay, or whatever you think might help them get to know you better.
