Moody Blue LP Cover Slick

Courtesy of Heritage Auction Galleries

Even 30+ years after his death, Elvis' popularity has never decreased and, thanks to Priscilla, his image is more alive today than ever. Elvis is one of just a handful of people that only need their first name to be instantly identifiable. Hundreds of products are still produced under his license, but it's the old stuff that gets the high prices.

Shown are a selection of items from various online auction houses.

This was the original cover planned for Elvis' Moody Blue album, but because of an error on the album slick, they were all destroyed except for three that were kept by an employee of the printing plant. Cardboard covers were never made with this art.

Elvis Presley's White Knabe Piano

Courtesy of Heritage Auction Galleries

Sitting at his white piano is a picture many of us can remember seeing at one time or another. Elvis purchased the Knabe piano, had it refinished, added a matching bench and installed it in the music room in Graceland. This piano has a particularly interesting story on how it came into Elvis' possession, it's previous history and where it's been since 1969. Elvis on Velvet

Barb Crews

Online prices for various Velvet Elvis paintings are usually in the $45 - $65 range.

It gets harder and harder to find a real treasure at a thrift store, but it wasn't that long ago that I spied this one. An honest-to-goodness Elvis on Velvet! Suffice it to say, it was meant to come home with me and did.

The painting doesn't come out of closet very often, but in celebration of Elvis' birthday, it's on display in a place of honor. (And right after his birthday, it will go back into the dark recesses of the closet.)

From Dictionary.com:

Kitsch, kich, n. something of tawdry design, appearance, or content created to appeal to popular or undiscriminating taste.
