Learn about our Editorial Process Updated on September 25, 2017 Emmanuel College Description: Founded in 1919, Emmanuel College is affiliated with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, and focuses on its religion in both studies and extracurricular activities. Originally named the Franklin Springs Institute, the school provided a combination of high school and college courses. Emmanuel College was renamed in 1939, and gained 2-year accreditation in 1967 (with its 4-year accreditation in 1991). Students can choose from over 30 majors, with some of the most popular choices including Exercise Science, Pastoral Studies, and Business Administration. Academics are supported by a healthy 12 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Outside of the classroom, students can join a number of campus-wide clubs and activities. These range from academic groups (History Club, Sigma Tau Delta, Science Club), performing art clubs (Actors Club, Dance Ministry, Choir), and religious activities (Praise Project, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Worship Ministry). Students also have the opportunity to attend chapel services every week, and the school organizes outreach programs within the community. On the athletic front, the Emmanuel College Lions compete in the NCAA's Division II, within the Conference Carolinas. Popular sports include Track and Field, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball. The school fields 15 men's sports and 15 women's sports.
