Ferrum College was established by the Virginia Conference of the Methodist Church in 1913 through the influence of its Woman's Society of Christian Service. It became a junior college exclusively in 1955 after years of service in secondary education." Ferrum has maintained its ties to the Methodist Church, but today the school is a private four-year liberal arts college. Outdoor lovers will appreciate the college's location in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains -- numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation and adventure are nearby.
