Discussion of FIU's Admissions Standards:

About half of all applicants to Florida International University are admitted. Successful applicants will need solid grades and standardized test scores. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of students who got in had high school grades of "C+" or higher, combined SAT scores of about 1000 or better, and ACT composite scores of 20 or higher. Higher grades and test scores almost guarantee admission.

Note that there are quite a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) hidden behind the green and blue on the left side of the graph. Some students with grades and test scores that seemed to be on target for Florida International University did not win admission. Note also that some students were accepted with test scores and grades a little bit below the norm. This is because FIU looks at more than numbers. The admissions folks want to see that you have taken sufficient college-preparatory classes. The rigor of your high school courses matters, not just your grades.
