Discussion of Flagler's Admissions Standards:

Less than half of all applicants to Flagler College will receive an acceptance letter, and successful applicants will need solid SAT or ACT scores and a strong academic record. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that most students who got in had high school averages of "B" or higher, combined SAT scores of about 1050 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 21 or higher.

You'll notice, however, that some students with grades and test scores that were on target for Flagler did not get in. The opposite is also true—a handful of students with grades and test scores below the norm were admitted. This is because the college's admissions process is not based on a simple matrix of numerical data. The admissions folks want to see that you have taken rigorous high school courses that have prepared you for college-level work. Those AP and IB classes greatly improve your chances of receiving an acceptance letter. Flagler uses the Common Application and has holistic admissions, so the college will also want to see an engaging admissions essay, dedicated involvement in extracurricular activities, and glowing letters of recommendation. Flagler does not offer interviews, but the school does welcome all types of contact such as a campus tour, information session, or a phone/email inquiry. Your engagement with the admissions office helps show your demonstrated interest, a factor that shouldn't be underestimated in the admissions process.
