Wichita and Topeka are each about three hours away. The 200-acre campus features limestone buildings, a creek, and extensive athletic and fitness facilities. The campus is also home to the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, a worthwhile destination for those interested in the region's history including prehistoric life. Just south of the FHSU campus is the Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center. Undergraduates at FHSU can choose from over 70 majors. Professional fields such as business, education and nursing are most popular, and in general the university has a practical and career-focused approach to education. Academics are supported by a 17 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Many students attend classes online or part-time, and the university has a large commuter population. 10% of all students live on campus.
