Welcome to Verse of the Day!

Today's Bible Verse:

Romans 5:7–8
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (ESV)

Today's Inspiring Thought: God Loves You

God gave the most costly sacrifice to secure our salvation—his very own, precious Son. And Jesus Christ demonstrated his love for us as well, through his willingness to be the perfect sacrifice.

He died so that we might live.

In John 3:16, God expressed his love for you with the gift of eternal life:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (ESV)

If you ever doubt God's love, ask yourself this question: Who do I love enough to give up my only child for? Who would I die for so that he or she might live? For most of us, those are impossible questions to answer.

How Much Does God Love You?

Maybe you've read this quote before? It's a stunning illustration of God's love for us:

I asked Jesus how much he loved me. He stretched out his arms and said, “This much”—and died.

Echoing the Bible verses above is 1 John 3:16:

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us ... (ESV)

Here's a mind-blowing reality: No matter what you do, nothing can change God's love for you. He loved you before you loved him, therefore, God won't stop loving you if you fail him.

Nowhere is this idea better expressed than in Romans 8:35-39:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?

As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (ESV)

Are you beginning to get a sense of the greatness of God's love for you?
