Discussion of Gonzaga University's Admissions Standards:

Gonzaga University's admissions are selective, and over a quarter of all applicants will not get in. In the graph above, the green and blue dots represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of students who got in to Gonzaga had GPAs of B+/A- or higher, SAT scores (RW+M) above 1100, and ACT composite scores of 22 or higher. A significant percentage of successful applicants had solid "A" averages.

Good grades and test scores, however, do not guarantee you an acceptance letter. In the middle of the graph you'll see a bit of red (rejected students) and yellow (waitlisted students) interspersed with the blue and green. Some students whose grades and test scores were on target for admission to Gonzaga were not successful in their bid for admission. On the other hand, you can see that a few students were accepted with test scores and grades a bit below the norm. This is because Gonzaga has holistic admissions -- the admissions officers consider qualitative as well as quantitative information. A rigorous academic record, winning essay, interesting extracurricular activities, and a strong letter of recommendation all contribute to a successful application. You can further strengthen your application by writing a thoughtful response to one of the short answer questions on Gonzaga's supplement to the Common Application.
