Introduction

Greg Rodgers is an experienced travel writer, photographer, and world nomad. He's been living and working on the road since 2006 and covering all things Asia for TripSavvy since 2010.

Greg runs a popular budget-travel blog and has helped thousands of people find joy and adventure through travel.

He has won awards for his travel writing, including a Solas Award for Best Travel Writing and the Gonzo Travel Writing award.

Experience

Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, Greg decided sunshine was preferable to the fluorescent lighting of his corporate office. In January 2006, he touched down in Thailand and promptly set up shop on one of Southeast Asia's beautiful islands.

Since then, Greg has slowly wandered through more than 30 countries. His adventures include surviving a Himalayan blizzard alone, climbing notable peaks, running with the bulls, walking through a minefield in East Timor, and weathering Super Typhoon Haiyan on a small island in the Philippines.

Along the way, Greg has dealt with hissing Komodo dragons, a brown bear in Alaska, drunk backpackers of all nationalities, and a frightening array of snakes. He's also an avid scuba diver and studied Shaolin kung fu in China.

Since 2010, Greg has happily helped TripSavvy readers to discover the magic of Asia.

Before beginning a life of travel, Greg served in the U.S. Army as a Forward Observer and designed networks as an engineer at IBM for eight years.
