Our fallen world is full of fickle relationships. Spouses may leave us, children may rebel against us, and friends may betray us -- even when they had been close to us before. But no matter what happens in our relationships with other people, we can count on guardian angels to continue loving us. We may fail to be faithful to guardian angels, but they will always be faithful to us because God has assigned them to care for us and given them pure love to empower them to do so.

When you remind yourself of guardian angels’ rock-solid faithfulness to you, it gives you the confidence you need to live with courageous faith that can transform you and the world around you. Here are five ways you can gain confidence from the fact that guardian angels care for you, and let their faithfulness to you grow your own faith:

  1. Trade in your own small plans for God’s big plans for you. Stop settling for a mediocre life and pursue the very best -- the life God intends for you, filled with opportunities to do what has eternal value, and the blessings that God wants guardian angels to bring into your life. Recognize the limits to your own power and choose to rely on God’s unlimited power flowing through you each day rather than trying to handle situations on your own. PrayM for guidance from guardian angels to show you where you should direct your energy every day so you don’t waste it and can use it to accomplish significant purposes.
  1. Gain the confidence you need to overcome fear. It’s natural to feel afraid when you encounter challenging situations, but you never have to give into the fear that you feel, because God will always faithfully help you when you need help. Pray regularly for fresh doses of faith that will empower you to move forward with what God wants you to do, despite feeling afraid, because God is with you. Read God’s promises to you in sacred scripture and decide to trust them every day. Direct your fear toward a healthy fear of God (a reverence for him), since that reverence will help humble you and motivate you to follow God’s guidance in your life, which will then empower you to handle challenging situations.
  1. Get out of your comfort zone. If you limit your faith only to what makes you feel comfortable and safe, your faith won’t grow. Realize that playing it safe is actually dangerous. Ask God to help you overcome the temptation to play it safe so you can become the person you were created to become. Pursue adventures with God regularly. Accept God’s challenges to take risks and make sacrifices as he leads you. Remember that God will always help you fulfill whatever tasks he calls you to undertake, and that following where God leads you is always worthwhile.
  2. Find your role in the story that God is writing. God has given you an important part to play in the great story of what he is doing in the world. If you don’t take action to do your part, the world will lose the full contribution that your life could make to it. But if you do play your part, then you can help make the world a better place in distinct ways. Ask God to give you a vision of specific ways that he wants you to serve him in this world. Let that knowledge excite you and motivate you to seek opportunities to fulfill God’s purposes for your life instead of worrying about what trouble might come your way. Look beyond the world as it is right now; ask God to help you see what it can and should be. Then decide to do whatever you can to make the world a better place.
  1. Keep going. Every day, do your best to follow the divine guidance that guardian angels deliver to you. Even if you fail while pursuing a goal that God and his angels have inspired you to work toward, you’ll fail faithfully, having answered God’s call -- and he and his angels will teach you valuable lessons in the process. What you learn from your mistakes may make it possible for you to succeed when you try again. When you succeed, notice how your life has changed for the better along the way, and let that knowledge build your confidence in your guardian angels’ faithfulness to you even more.
