The university's curriculum is grounded in the liberal arts and has particular strengths in education, health, and business fields. Students can choose from 40 degree programs at the associate, bachelor's and master's degree levels with business administration and nursing being the most popular majors at the bachelor's degree level. Gwynedd Mercy takes pride in the personal attention students receive from their professors, something the school is able to achieve because of a 14 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 17. The university tends to rank well among master's-level universities in the north, partly because the school's graduation rate is strong in relation to the average student profile. Gwynedd Mercy is a residential campus, and over 40% of students live in the residence halls. Students stay engaged outside of the classroom through the university's more than 30 clubs and organizations including The Griffin (the school's literary journal), Campus Ministry, Dance Team, and the Equestrian Team. On the athletic front, the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins compete in the NCAA Division III Colonial States Athletic Conference. The university fields ten women's and seven men's intercollegiate sports including baseball, lacrosse, and indoor and outdoor track and field. Gwynedd Mercy students can also participate in intramural sports such as flag football and basketball.
