Discussion of Hanover College's Admissions Standards:

Hanover College has moderately selective admissions -- roughly two out of every three applicants will get in. Successful applicants tend to have grades and test scores that are average or better. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. Most had SAT scores (RW+M) of 1000 or higher, an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. Your chances will be better with grades and scores a little above these lower ranges, and you can see that the majority of admitted students had grades up in the "A" range.

Note that there are a few red dots (rejected students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. These means a few students with grades and test scores that were on target for Hanover College did not get get in. The opposite is also true -- some students were admitted with grades and test scores that were a little below par. This is because Hanover College has holistic admissions and makes decisions based on more than numbers. Whether you use the Hanover application or the Common Application, the college will be looking for a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation. Above all else, Hanover College wants to see strong grades in a rigorous high school curriculum. Success in Advanced Placement, IB, Honors, and dual enrollment courses can all play a significant role in the admissions process, for challenging courses such as these are one of the best predictors of college success.
