Harris-Stowe State University Description:

Founded in 1857, Harris-Stowe State University is a four-year, public historically black university located in Saint Louis, Missouri. HSSU has a student body of about 1,400 and a student/faculty ratio of 13 to 1. The university offers 14 Bachelor of Science degree programs across the College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and Anheuser-Busch School of Business.

Professional fields in business, education, and criminal justice are the most popular with students. There is plenty to do on campus — HSSU is home to over 40 student clubs and organizations, as well as intramural sports, fraternities, and sororities. Another feature of the campus is the Wolff Jazz Institute & Art Gallery, a jazz collection and great attraction for students and visitors.

The HSSU Hornets compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Midwest Conference (AMC). The school fields teams for men’s soccer, basketball, and baseball, and women’s volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball.
