Admissions Chances

Harvey Mudd College has a highly competitive admissions pool with a low acceptance rate and high average SAT/ACT scores. However, Harvey Mudd has a holistic admissions process involving other factors beyond your grades and test scores. A strong application essay, supplemental essay, and glowing letters of recommendation can strengthen your application, as can participation in meaningful extracurricular activities and a rigorous course schedule. Students with particularly compelling stories or achievements can still receive serious consideration even if their test scores are outside Harvey Mudd's average range. While not required, Harvey Mudd strongly recommends that applicants schedule an optional interview.

In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that nearly all successful applicants had "A" averages, combined SAT scores of 1400 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 30 or higher. The higher your grades and test scores, the better your chance of getting an acceptance.
