Netflix characterizes it as chilling, violent and dark. It stars Famke Janssen, Landon Liboiron, and Dougray Scott and is directed by Eli Roth. "Hemlock Grove" is available for streaming from Netflix and on DVD. It's rated TV-MA, age 17+. Bill Skarsgard as Roman Godfrey Andreas Rentz / Staff/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images Roman Godfrey is an aristocratic and sexually aggressive high school senior. He has a fetish for blood and power, which he satisfies by hiring hookers and cutting himself during sex. Yet we also see Roman’s gentle side as he nurtures and protects his younger sister Shelley, a mute giant who causes electrical shorts when she’s emotional. Roman is battling a lot of demons and believes that if he can solve the town’s murders, he can redeem and save himself from his own darkness. Landon Liboiron as Peter Rumancek Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix A gypsy newcomer to Hemlock Grove, Peter is a nomadic free bird, an observer who sees the love and beauty in things that a lot of other people don't -- maybe because he's moved around so much. He's morally secure but still finding his way through the world and has trouble making lasting friendships. Famke Janssen as Olivia Godfrey Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix Roman's beautiful and feared mother, Olivia is a wealthy widow with a mysterious background who stands in control of the Godfrey family fortune. She is a highly manipulative person, somebody with an agenda, and is clear about what sacrifices she’s willing to make to get there. She’s mysterious and unpredictable and has a wry sense of humor, which makes her that much more interesting to play. Dougray Scott as Norman Godfrey Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix A thoughtful and intelligent psychiatrist, Norman is a man of great contradictions. He didn’t want to be the one counting money in the big house at the top of the hill looking down on the small town below, and yet he deceives with the best of them. He often fights with his sister-in-law Olivia about how to raise their respective children and the nefarious activities at the Godfrey Institute for Biomedical Research, known colloquially as The White Tower, and yet he has had an on-again-off-again affair with her for more than a decade. Penelope Mitchell as Letha Godfrey Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix The daughter of Norman and Marie Godfrey, Letha is the antidote to her cousin Roman's darkness – she's sweet and compassionate and generously disregards Roman’s awkward and intense attraction to her. Letha is a delicate and virtuous person who's going through a lot of emotion to do with her spirituality, her family, and her sexuality. Freya Tingley as Christina Wendall Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix Christina is a curious and inquisitive young novelist and neighbor of Peter's who's intrigued when she hears there's a gypsy in town. She’s a bit of an outsider herself, and she admires Peter's freedom with who he is. She quickly develops a crush on Peter, casing him as the poetic bad boy. Lili Taylor as Lynda Rumancek Photo: Gavin Bond / Netflix Lynda is Peter's protective and self-medicated mother. She's a gypsy and an outsider who moves around a lot -- most recently to her deceased brother's old trailer in Hemlock Grove. Continue Reading
