Discussion of Hendrix College's Admissions Standards:

Don't be misled by Hendrix College's relatively high acceptance rate (82% in 2015) -- the college attracts strong applicants, and you're going to need solid grades and standardized test scores to get admitted. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. The majority of successful applicants had high school GPAs of "B+" or higher, ACT composite scores of 22 or higher, and combined SAT scores of 1100 or better (RW+M). You'll notice that quite a few applicants had perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Note, however, that there are a few red dots (rejected students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. A handful of students with grades and test scores that seemed to be on target for Hendrix College did not get in. On the flip side, note that some students were admitted with test scores and grades a little bit below the ideal. This is because the Hendrix admissions process is holistic and involves much more than numbers. The college uses the Common Application, so your extracurricular activities, application essay, and letters or recommendation are all part of the admissions equation. As with any selective college, the admissions folks will be impressed if you've succeeded in challenge courses such as Honors, IB, Advanced Placement, or dual enrollment classes. Such classes are one of the best predictors of college success.
