Discussion of High Point's Admissions Standards:

High Point University's admissions bar is within reach of most hard working students, but over a quarter of all applicants do not get in. Successful applicants tend to have grades and test scores that are at least a little above average. In the scattergram above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of admitted applicants had high school averages of 3.0 or higher, combined SAT scores of 1050 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 21 or better. Grades and test scores above this lower range will improve your chances measurably.

Note that there are a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. Some students with grades and test scores that were on target for High Point were rejected. At the same time, you'll see that a few students were accepted with test scores and grades below the norm. This is because High Point's admissions process is holistic. The admissions folks will want to see that you have taken rigorous high school courses, not courses that get you an easy "A." Also, they will be looking for a winning essay, interesting extracurricular activities, and a strong guidance counselor report.
