Discussion of Hollins University's Admissions Standards: Hollins University is a private women's liberal arts college in Virginia. Admissions aren't overly selective, but successful applicants tend to have solid grades and standardized test scores. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. As you can see, the majority of successful applicants had high school GPAs of "B" or better, combined SAT scores of about 1000 or higher (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 20 or better. The university certainly attracts plenty of strong students with grades up in the "A" range. Test scores and grades are just one part of the Hollins admissions equation. You can apply with either the Hollins application or the Common Application, and the admissions folks will be looking to see that you have taken challenging high school courses, written an engaging essay, and participated in interesting extracurricular activities. Hollins values the freedom its students have to pursue their passions, and the university looks for students who will contribute to the campus community in meaningful ways.
