Discussion of Hood College's Admissions Standards:

Hood College has moderately selective admissions, and about one out of every four applicants will not be admitted. Successful applicants will need solid grades to get in. Standardized test scores matter far less than grades, for Hood has test-optional admissions. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who were accepted. Most had SAT scores (RW+M) of 950 or higher, an ACT composite of 18 or higher, and a high school average of "B" or better. A strong academic record is going to be the most important part of your application, and success in Advanced Placement, IB, Honors, and Dual Enrollment courses can all play a meaningful role in the admissions process.

When making admissions decisions, the Hood College admissions folks look at much more than your grades and (if you submit them) test scores. The college has holistic admissions. Whether you use the Hood College application or the Common Application, the college will be looking for a strong application essay, meaningful extracurricular activities, and positive letters of recommendation.
