If You Like Piña Coladas...

"And in the personal columns, there was this letter I read..."

Today is National Piña Colada Day! To celebrate, we challenge you to do these eight things... just as Rupert Holmes intended it in his 1979 hit "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)." We also challenge you to try to make it through the day without getting that song stuck in your head. Good luck.

Like piña coladas.

Yes, in order to properly celebrate, you must actually "like piña coladas" and the strong rum, pineapple, and coconut flavors. But it's your call whether you enjoy the popular summer cocktail on the rocks, frozen, as a non-alcoholic mocktail, or as a quick shooter. Just don't go buying one of those ready-to-drink mixes!

Make Your Own: Combine 2 ounces light rum, 2 ounces pineapple juice, and 1 1/2 ounces cream of coconut in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, strain into a chilled cocktail or collins glass, and garnish with a pineapple wedge and maraschino cherries.

Get caught in the rain.

Finding yourself trapped umbrella-less in the middle of a sudden shower or storm might not sound like your idea of fun. But today, as the song suggests, we want you to chase the clouds for a chance to walk, run, or even dance in the rain. Be sure to check the forecast and learn what "chance of rain" really means. And if you're lucky, you might just see a rainbow after "getting caught in the rain," too.

Don't be into yoga.

You might usually call yourself a yogi and practice #yogaeverydamnday. But we think you should take today off. You shouldn't do any of these 10 daily yoga stretches or start the day with these sun salutations. And don't even pretend you know the difference between hatha, power, and vinyasa yoga classes. "You're not into yoga," remember?

Have half a brain.

We get what you're saying here, Rupert. But the real question is, which half? Are you talking about the left brain or the right brain? Or is it the half that's not affected by stress? Does it include the half that plays tricks on you? Oh... you just want us to "have half a brain" and be somewhat smart and logical and try to use more than 10 percent of our brains? Got it.

Make love at midnight in the dunes of the cape.

Just as the lyrics say, sometimes couples have just "been together too long" and "fallen into the same old dull routine." Today's the day to heat things up. Try new positions, eat these sexy foods, and learn how to ask for exactly what you want from your partner. In this case, it's getting busy on the beach.

Don't be much into health food.

Push those fruits and veggies aside as you shout, "I'm not much into health food" today! Of course, we all know how good certain superfoods can be for our diets and the importance of buying healthy foods for our families. But today (only because the song insists), we say bring on the junk food. Mmm... doughnuts... hot dogs... candy!

Be into champagne.

Just because the honorary drink of the day is the piña colada doesn't mean you can't pop a little bubbly, too! After all, there's no better way to celebrate any holiday than with something sparkling. Raise a flute (or make a whole champagne punch) and offer up this simple toast: "I am into champagne." Cheers!

Escape...

With each sip of our piña coladas today, we'll be whisked away to a tropical land where the sun is shining, the waves are crashing, and cocktails keep coming. So "come with me" and "we'll plan our escape," just like the song says. Maybe the world's most exotic beaches aren't your thing. Spend the day getting pampered at a spa. Discover easy ways to be instantly happier. Or just get lost in some movies for awhile. Either way, today is about drinkin' and daydreamin'.
