Discussion of Indiana State University's Admissions Standards: Most applicants to Indiana State University will be admitted, and roughly four out of every five applicants receives an acceptance letter. The high school grades and standardized test scores of admitted students vary widely. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who got in. Nearly all admitted students had high school GPAs of "C+" or better, SAT scores (RW+M) of 800 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 15 or higher. The university does draw many strong students, and you'll notice a significant number of blue and green data points up in the "A" range. Strong high school students should look into Indiana State University's Honors Program for opportunities to live with other Honors students, take special Honors courses, and take advantage of other social and professional activities. For the most part, Indiana State admission decisions are based on high school grades and ACT/SAT scores. The university has a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in the Indiana Core 40 curriculum (or equivalent). Core 40 includes eight credits in language arts, six to eight credits in math, six credits in laboratory sciences, six credits in social sciences, eight elective credits, and a credit in both physical education and health/safety (learn more on the Indiana State University admissions website). Students who don't meet the minimum requirements for admission can still get in, but their applications will be reviewed individually. The admissions officers will be looking for strong standardized test scores, completion of challenging courses, or other evidence that the applicant has the potential to succeed in a university curriculum. If students are admitted conditionally, they will be expected to take specific courses and work carefully with an advisor.
