Jason Fogelson is an experienced automotive journalist. He's devoted to helping people find the right vehicle for their needs, and to helping them get the most out of their choices.
Jason Fogelson has reviewed over 500 new cars, trucks, motorcycles and SUVs for About.com since joining the test team in 2005.
The current President of the Motor Press Guild (the professional organization for automotive journalists), Jason also works as a freelance writer and as a film and television producer. He has produced and worked on shows about transportation for the Fine Living Network and Speed Channel. His book, 100 Things for Every Gearhead to Do Before They Die, was published by Reedy Press in 2015.
Jason works behind the scenes in the automotive industry, as a writer and creative director for trade presentations. He also works on the creative side of automotive advertising, writing directors' treatments for ads and campaigns.
Jason's experience with the automotive business began in 1980, when he took time off from his college education to sell cars and trucks (we hadn't named "SUVs" yet) for several dealerships in the Los Angeles area. Jason was California's top Fiat salesman in 1981, one of the last years Fiats were imported into the US—he sold seven cars.
A ramblin' man, Jason attended several high schools before graduating from Guilford High School in Rockford, Illinois. He then attended the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana and College of the Canyons in Valencia, California before going to California State University, Northridge to pursue a degree in Theater. He studied Dramatic Theory and Criticism at the graduate level at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.
Jason's automotive education came at the feet of his father, Joel Fogelson, a real car guy, and his uncle, Dr. William Steck, who always had the greatest cars and SUVs.
