Experience

Jennifer Merin is a former writer for ThoughtCo who wrote film commentary for nearly seven years. As a dedicated film journalist, Jennifer regularly watches current documentary film releases, as well as the classics. Having worked on documentary films, she is aware of the ways directors handle different genres to reveal the truth about the world around us. Her experience as a news reporter and editor provides her with deep insight.

Jennifer reviews films and interviews filmmakers for the New York Press and reports on film and cultural matters for Westwood One Radio Network's America in the Morning show. She is also a contributor to TheReeler.com and a film critic for Women's eNews. Jennifer's experience includes time as a news writer and editor for ABC and CNN and as a reporter for NBC. Her ongoing weekly column about culture and travel feature in the Los Angeles Times, Associated Press, Los Angeles Times Syndicate, and Tribune Media. She writes the Creators Syndicate column, Around the World with Jennifer Merin.  

 

Jennifer is the president of the Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AWFJ) and edits and publishes AWFJ Women On Film, the organization's syndicated journal.  She is a member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

Education

Merin received a Master of Fine Art (MFA) from New York University–Tisch School of the Arts.
