Discussion of Juniata College's Admissions Standards: Juniata College is a private liberal arts college in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Admissions are selective, and roughly a quarter of all applicants will not get in. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. You can see that the majority of admitted students had high school averages of "B+" or better, combined SAT scores of 1100 or higher, and ACT composite scores of 22 or better. Your high school grades are going to be much more important than standardized test scores in the admissions process: you have the option of applying without standardized test scores if you submit a couple graded essays with your application. You'll notice a few yellow dots (waitlisted students) and red dots (rejected students) mixed in with the green and blue in the middle of the graph. Some students with grades and test scores that were on target for Juniata did not get in. On the flip side, note that some students were accepted with standardized test scores and grades that were a bit below the norm. This is because Juniata has holistic admissions and considers much more than numerical data. The admissions folks will be looking at the rigor of your high school courses, not just your grades. Juniata uses the Common Application and will want to see interesting extracurricular activities, an engaging application essay, and a glowing letter of recommendation. You can further strengthen your application by doing an optional interview.
