Kelly is a former ThoughtCo writer. She is an author, certified teacher, and lecturer, who has had an array of test-preparation experience. She worked as a high school English and reading teacher for years in one of the nation's top-ranked school districts, instructing students in the many facets of local, state, and national testing.

Her test-prep skills helped her administer SAT test preparation courses to advanced high school students, guiding them to focus their potential and increase their scores. She has also worked as a private tutor, motivating students to move from failure to excellence in reading, writing, and speech. She wrote 262 test-prep and education articles for ThoughtCo over the course of nearly eight years.

Kelly holds a master's degree in secondary English education and a bachelor's degree in English with a creative writing emphasis.

Publications

Kelly authored a test-prep book, "Ace the ACT: Smart Strategies to a Higher Score," published in 2012 by the Research and Education Association, Inc. and updated it in 2016 to include the enhanced ACT writing test. The updated book was titled "ACT Strategy Smart: Ace the ACT." She has also written test-taking tips and articles for kindergarten through sixth-grade students on  Scholastic.com. Currently, she also writes for Blue Ocean Brain, a company specializing in customizable microlearning for business.
