Overview:

Energetic and petite Kimberly McCullough became an actress at the age of seven months, when she appeared in a diaper ad. She continued upward from there, with her initial role in Breakin' 2: Electric Bugaloo in 1984.

In 1985, at the age of 7, the youngster began playing Robin Scorpio on General Hospital. She left the series in 1997 as a two-time Daytime Emmy award winner and returned in 2005, the character now a doctor and researcher.

Robin also appeared on the two GH spin-off series Port Charles and Night Shift.

Actress, Dancer, and Singer

McCullough's career embraces not only daytime soap opera, but movies and television. She's appeared in shows such as ER, Judging Amy, Crossing Jordan, CSI, The Shield, Once and Again,  and Joan of Arcadia. Film work includes Bugsy, Consenting Adults, and Legally Blonde.

However, those who know McCullough as an actress are only aware of a portion of this young woman's abilities. She's a talented dancer and singer, having appeared on television in Fame, Solid Gold and The People's Choice Awards; as a singer, she has done back-up in commercials and on Martika's 1980's hit, "Toy Soldiers."

Brunette Ambition

McCullough attended New York University as part of her quest to become a film director, and later, she was accepted into a prestigious filmmaker's program.  As a result of this new goal, she left General Hospital in November 2012.

Originally, the character of Robin was supposed to die after her HIV protocol stopped working.  When that story was conceived, the producers believed that GH was facing cancellation.

A New Story

However, under the new leadership of producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati, Robin had a different fate.

She was frantically working in the lab trying to come up with a drug to help Jason Morgan when the lab exploded.  Robin was presumed dead, particularly when a badly burned body was found in the lab.

She had in reality been kidnapped by Cesar Faison and was being held a Swiss clinic run by Faison's wife, Dr. Liesl Obrecht.

In October 2013 fans began to see the actress on screen as Robin again. She has been making appearances on the show since then, and she returned for a longer time in 2015. With Jason Thompson, who plays her husband Patrick, leaving the show, the Scorpio-Drakes moved to California to begin a new adventure. In 2016 she returned for the Nurses Ball.

Private Life

In her private life, McCullough is known as "Kimber," and she enjoys surfing. She wears a special ring for each long-term relationship that she's had, including that of her ex-fiance, Freddie Prinze, Jr.

In 2015, McCullough was diagnosed with an arachnoid cyst (which she believed to be a brain tumor).

Following that, her mastiff, Melba, died at just past 14 years. We pet owners know that sadness only too well.

Then McCullough learned some very happy news, that she was pregnant with a girl. Unfortunately, she miscarried at 22 weeks.

She wrote, "My heart was so full and then it broke...anyone who has gone through it knows, losing a baby at 22 weeks is tragic. One thing I am proud of however was that I allowed myself to be happy and to relish the moment."

McCullough continues to take in all that has happened, but she's one who looks at the good side of the ledger, too.

She writes that in Jason Thompson she has a "great friend," adding, "I'm really proud of the work we did." She refers to Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma) as not only her TV daughter but "the most precious soul on the planet."

"I got to tell an important and at times really fun story," she says about her story arc on General Hospital.
