Discussion of Lake Forest College's Admissions Standards:

Admission to Lake Forest College is selective, and just over half of all applicants will receive an acceptance letter. Successful applicants tend to have GPAs above a 3.0, SAT scores over 1000 (RW+M), and ACT composite scores of 20 or higher. Many admitted students had grades up in the "A" range. Don't worry if your SAT or ACT scores are below these lower numbers -- Lake Forest College has test-optional admissions. Your academic record matters far more than your standardized test scores.

Throughout the graph you'll see a few red dots (rejected students) and yellow dots (waitlisted students) overlapping with the green and the blue. Some students who seemed to be on target for admission to Lake Forest did not get in. You can also see that a few students with scores and grades below the norm were admitted. This is because Lake Forest College has holistic admissions and takes into consideration much more than numerical data. Applicants can use either Lake Forest's own application or the Common Application. In either case, the college will be looking for strong letters of recommendation, an engaging personal statement, and participation in meaningful extracurricular activities. Also, Lake Forest College highly recommends that applicants do a college admissions interview.
