Lauren Mack is a former writer for ThoughtCo who contributed articles about Chinese culture for over two years. As a freelance journalist, she has written about travel, sports, food, architecture, and popular culture for a range of publications, including Newsweek International, HFN, Elle Girl, the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, and the Palm Beach Post. A frequent traveler who has visited 46 countries, Mack has also worked on guidebooks for Zagat, Explorer Publishing, and Time Out.


Mack has a B.A. in Humanities from Florida Atlantic University and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. She has studied Mandarin Chinese in both Beijing and Taipei.
