Similarly, it can be used when referring to actions such as tidying up, clearing out, or removing clutter. It can also be used figuratively, as in clearing or cleaning up someone's reputation. Below you'll find tables with the conjugations for the simple tenses of limpiar: present, preterite, imperfect, future, periphrastic future, and conditional indicative; present and imperfect subjunctive; and the imperative. Limpiar Conjugation Despite having the vowel i immediately before the -ar ending, limpiar is conjugated regularly. Imperfect Indicative Form of Limpiar The imperfect tense is used for talking about actions that took place over an indefinite period of time. Periphrastic Future of Limpiar The periphrastic future is more informal than the simple future tense conjugated above. It is the equivalent of "going to," and as in English, this form of referring to the future in some areas has replaced the standard future tense in everyday speech. Present Progressive/Gerund Form of Limpiar Although the Spanish gerund is the equivalent of "-ing" verbs in English, it cannot be used as a noun. It is used to form the progressive or continuous tenses. Gerund of Limpiar: está limpiando is cleaning -> Usted está limpiando el pizarrón de la clase. Past Participle of Limpiar Participle of Limpiar: ha limpiado has cleaned -> Usted ha limpiado el pizarrón de la clase. Conditional Form of Limpiar As its name suggests, the conditional tense is used for actions that depend on some condition being met.
