Below is a list of the Dolch sight words. These are the 220 most common words along with an additional 95 nouns. These are the words that come up the most in children's literature. They are called "sight words" because some of the them can not be sounded out and must be learned by sight. There are a several ways that you can use this list, you can have students read them off of the list, use flashcards, in a crossword puzzle, in a cloze passage worksheet, or through other hands-on activities.

Dolch Activities and Games

Here are a few ways that you can use the Dolch sight words.

  • Dolchword.net has many online games that incorporate the word list. For example, students can match a word to how it sounds in a fun matching game.Another option is for students to listen to the word and see of they can choose the correct letter tiles to spell the word out. These are a just of the game options online, there are many more to choose from.
  • Cookie.com is another online site that offers games for students to practice learning there sight words. This site has students playing memory games and matching as well.
  • ABCYA.com is a fun sight that allows students to learn their sight words through a word bingo game. Students listen to the word the BINGO bug speaks then, click on the corresponding sight word on the screen.
