Discussion of Louisiana Tech University's Admissions Standards:

Roughly a third of all applicants to Louisiana Tech University will not receive an acceptance letter. The admissions bar isn't overly high, but applicants will need decent grades and test scores to receive an acceptance letter. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who got in. Most had SAT scores of 1000 or higher (RW+M), an ACT composite of 20 or higher, and a high school average of a "B" or better. Many applicants are quite strong with grades up in the "A" range.

Louisiana Tech admission decisions are based largely on grades and test scores, and the university has minimum requirements for acceptance. As of 2016, in-state applicants needed a core high school GPA of 2.5 combined with an SAT (RW+M) of 810 or an ACT composite of 15; or, a GPA of 2.0 or higher with an SAT of 1130 (RW+M) or an ACT of 23. Out-of-state and home-schooled applicants will need higher test scores (read more on the Louisiana Tech website here).

Students who don't meet these minimum requirements can still get in, for Louisiana Tech's admissions process is somewhat holistic. The university will consider other factors including a student's potential, experiences, age, ethnic background, and creative ability.
