Love Tip #2: Compatible Elements

Fire-Air and Earth-Water

Love in Sparklerts / Damien Gavlos / EyeEm.

There are elements that are naturally harmonious, but have enough differences to make things interesting!

These are fire-air and earth-water. There are distinct differences in the styles of these elements, but they meld in a way that enhances both.

They play off each other really well, and have a similar way of acting -- or reacting.

Fire and Air

When fire signs come together with air signs, the flames flicker ever upward.

Both are nourished by ideas, fascinations, inspirations, visions.

Fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Air signs are Libra, Aquarius and Gemini.

Games, play, experimentation are high on the list. Both lead with the intellect, and thrive on a steady stream of novelty and possibility.

  • Share a sense of drama.
  • Are social and flirty.
  • Share a knack for keeping the relationship fresh and new.
  • Snap each other out of limiting perspectives.
  • Exchange visions for the future.

This is where inspiration meets action!  One has the bright idea, and the other makes it happen quickly.  Things never get dull, since both are constantly seeking something new.

Air signs are often in their heads, while fire signs are animated, often very physically charged personalities.  You see how well they're matched?

Air signs help fire get some perspective.  Fire signs add passion and inspired movement, to make a dream real.

When in private situations, fiery signs help air lose themselves in the heat of the moment.

A couple like this enjoys games, maybe even old-school mental challenges like chess.  But mind games are a no no, and a love cul-de-sac to watch out for.

Some air signs avoid intimacy and being in the moment, by keeping the chat going.

Fire signs don't like all talk and no action types.

Earth and Water

When earth signs come together with water signs, they mix to make pliable mud.

Earth signs are Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo.

Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

They can create a nourishing foundation from which many things can grow.

  • Like to take things slow in love.
  • Are nourished by creature comforts.
  • Engage with the world in a personal way.
  • Share a desire for emotional security.

Water signs go with the flow, and earth signs are the stabilizers of the Zodiac.  As a pair, a foundation can be built -- with material needs met -- but one that's also in sync with emotional needs.

Sometimes water and earth fall into a cozy stagnant stupor.  That's because they're both passive and reactive as a rule.  The designation is feminine, which means Yin, receptive.

If you're in a water/earth relationship, look at the other elements of your charts, too.
